05/12/08 The Local was notified by Verizon of it's intention to go forward with layoffs in the CZT II and Switch Provisioning Specialist classifications.  Of the 27 ISPs offered between these classifications, 16 were taken leaving 11 targeted employees.  After meeting with the Union as per Appendix 19 of the CBA, the company has refused to reduce the number of affected employees and will proceed with 11 layoffs.  Those targeted employees should be receiving their bumping options from the company.  More to follow.
