No progress on proper signs for road work if needed for safety.  Need location list for technicians as needed.  . I will also provide last meetings information  that may help on decision for safety sign needs.   This may have to be a State decision and I see it as #1 item on the May 1,2008 state safety meeting agenda.

The only unresolved buildings issue is the one at the South Haven warehouse. There is no gate at all and what fencing is in place, is in total disrepair. Per Raul, copper wire has been stolen from the South Haven yard several times.

According to Ron Mak, this issue is one for security and they are aware of it. This item is being forwarded as Action Item 01-07-001 to Gary Chizmar, Doug Neer, Sean Majewski and Terry Rakow.

GOING FORWARD ISSUES

CPR Training – Make Up  Updates and coordination needed.

If anyone missed the last go around of CPR Training you may have another chance. If there is enough demand, Jeff Novak may be released to perform another class.  This was brought up that we have Construction techs and others in need of certification.  I would like Managers to assign someone to take names for each work group that are in need of the training.  Many changes have happened for personal and we need to address how this needs to be coordinated.

Round Table Discussion Updates and reminders for safety:

**Victor Kordish and Deb Price have resigned from the South Area Representation.  Victor has found his replacement being Jon Rohl  for South and State safety.

**When parking along the road, make sure your vehicle is between you and oncoming traffic if at all possible.

Jon Rohl mention the need for new first aid kits required for his offices that still has not been placed.  Order SES ID 924653.   V. Pratt will resolve this issue.

Jim Soloman mention the Adamsville frame as being open ended and being unsafe after he caught his pant leg. V. Pratt will  investigate and take action as needed.

Mike Sosby, the potholes in the Tecumseh warehouse has received the attention needed and will be filled in when conditions permit.

Also the discussion of Aerial Lift Certification.  Shawn Ware says that Mike Karle can do the Aerial Lift Certification.  Please contact immediate supervisor with certification needs and to coordinate with Mike Karle Three Rivers Engineer.

Shawn Ware mentioned the situation of a technician carrying equipment and materials on the back on their truck and some falling off and hitting a vehicle.  The technician was ticketed.    Please inform techs make sure the materials area secure when loading and get to the closest dumpster to remove.

Vickie Pratt brought up vehicle accident. Try to get a supervisor on location and it doesn’t matter who since we are far and few between or if need be another technician other then individual involved.  It can be traumatic situation causing unclear thinking for the individual involved.  Also mentioned Jeff Price attending Central area safety meeting and not being present.  Vickie offered to take any issues back to Jeff for fleet.  No issues at this time.

** With Deb Price resigning we are in need of a minute recorder at meetings.  These minutes were items I jotted down while chairing the meeting.

The next scheduled Southern Area Safety Meetings are tentatively set for: Please try to refrain from scheduling other meetings on these dates.
